Parmarth Niketan Ashram is nestled in the lap of the verdant Himalayas along the banks of the river Ganga. How To Reach
It is one of the largest ashrams in Uttarakhand state. Parmarth Niketan can be reached on foot from Ram Jhula or by rickshaw and auto service. One can even go for a boat ride facility to reach this ashram. Rishikesh railway station is the nearest railway station that is around 16kms from the ashram. Regular bus services are also available from prominent cities like Delhi, and Dehradun. Jolly Grant airport is the nearest airport that is located at a distance of around 35kms from Rishikesh.
The Best Time To Visit
The best time to visit Parmarth Niketan is from late September to November. There are a lot of things one can indulge in at Parmarth Niketan ashram. Attend Yoga and meditation class at the ashram that happens daily, Spiritual Lecture- attend the daily morning and evening lectures by saints and religious practitioners.
The major highlight is the Ganga aarti in the evening. Daily Ganga aarti on the private ghat of the ashram is witnessed by numerous pilgrims. It is a half an hour event that is performed by lightening lamps and floating Diyas on the river. Ther are several types of ancient Hindu healing practices and ayurvedic treatments.
