One can find several holy ashrams and Hindu religious centres and temples can be seen lining the side of the bridge. Visit these ashrams for the true essence of Rishikesh, for tranquillity and yes of course for a peaceful aura. History reveals that Ram Jhula was initially a bridge that was made up of strong jute ropes. It did not have any pillars to provide structural support in the beginning but later on, it was rebuilt with iron in the year 1986 by the PWD under government supervision. Due to its location in the spiritual and holy city Rishikesh, the name of the bridge is derived from the Aryan King-Lord Ram.
